Fiercey asks tough questions Fiercey twists the truth

Book cover: Fiercey Asks Tough Questions
Book cover: Fiercey Twists the Truth

The story of Fiercey, a girl always hungry for knowledge who learns about life with an open mind, unafraid to ask questions that even adults often dodge.

In this book, Fiercey discovers the life and work of Marie Curie and reflects on different times and customs, which inspires her to ask questions that aren't easy to answer.

After the first picture book, in which Fiercey confronted us with important yet slightly tough questions, in the new “Fiercey Twists the Truth,” our heroine discovers the life and work of investigative journalist Nellie Bly, who inspires her to bravely expose untruths and fight for a better society.

Should we blindly trust commercials? Does mom always know best? What food is actually healthy? — these are the questions Fiercey critically ponders, and the answers she arrives at lead her to spark change.

Fiercey Is a Fierce Girl

Fiercey is a curious little girl who wants to be a fierce woman when she grows up

The protagonist's name is derived from “strasna zena” (fierce woman), originally the name of a column on VoxFeminae.net featuring biographies of remarkable women throughout history, and later a board game better known by its international name — Fierce Women. In colloquial Croatian, “strasan/na” means someone brilliant, special, exceptional — and that's exactly how we can describe the women who made an extraordinary contribution to society, as well as the protagonist of this picture book, Fiercey.

For girls, boys and their parents, because only together can we build a more equal and just society for all.

Fierce Women

If we want a world that is more open, more empathetic, stronger in protecting the vulnerable, we must become critics of everything that comes our way — while we are still small.

‘The hardest questions Fiercey asks challenge the facts we take for granted’

Although I feel things are slowly changing for the better, it deeply saddens me that in certain aspects of life, we women still have to prove ourselves extra and fight for equal rights, opportunities, or protection — even in seemingly civilized societies. I am optimistically hopeful that, despite the general chaos and difficult situation in the country, the movements mentioned will raise awareness enough that — like Fiercey — we adults too will ask ourselves what we can do to make everyday life in the near future safer, fairer and better for everyone.

The main heroine is a girl called Fiercey and here is why she matters

After the remarkable success of the Fierce Women board game, it seemed natural to continue this valuable story while expanding it in new directions. Fierce Women is a concept that promotes and educates about women's contribution to civilization — and until now it had been focused on popularising well-known and lesser-known women whose work has been of service to society.
